| We hope you enjoy your time here and to help you get the most out of it, we’ve selected a few tours which you may wish to fit into your stay. More details on the options below are in our regional guide. |
Wine tasting at the Mas Camps winery. Available most days in July/August, outside that for our guests by arrangement.
A visit to the Tautavel museum which depicts the tale of the most ancient humans in Europe, just 15 minutes drive and about 90 minutes for the tour. We sell discounted entrance tickets (6€ adults, 3€ children).
Queribus Castle, around 10 minutes drive with a tour of around 45 minutes. Turn left out of the car park then take the first road on the right in Maury. Peyrepertuse Castle is about 15 minutes further on. The entrance charge is about 5€ for adults. Closed on very windy days but otherwise open all year.
Collioure, is one of the most picturesque French coastal resorts and where Matisse did a great deal of his work. Today you will find the waterfront filled with artists in Summer and the resort retains its charm.
St Martin’s Abbey. In the same direction as Villefrance-de-Conflent. You need about an hour to an hour and a half for the visit. It’s quite a steep climb up to the Abbey.
Villefrance-de-Conflent, a fortified town with a castle. No entrance charge for the town, but they do charge for the parking (you can avoid this by parking on the roads around the town). Open all year but much less busy out of the July/August period. We can book guided tours for you (advance notice required).
Cadaques, the charming village where the painter Salvador Dali lived. Absolutely gorgeous but a bit of a parking nightmare in the summer; it's best to see it out of season when it's still quite lively but not as crowded.
Barcelona. The capital of Cataluña offers you a little bit of everything from the city beaches to the charming backstreets of the old town. Shopping ranges from the hustle and bustle of Las Ramblas to modern shopping malls, all offering excellent value for money. Do watch the traffic jams on both the motorway and the national highway over the border, particularly on the first weekend of August, the weekend around the 15th of August and on Sundays.
A guided walk with a local guide. Christian offers tailor-made walks exploring the historical heritage, exceptional scenery, stories of yesterday & today from the Pyrenees to the Mediterranean. Themed walks such as Cathar Castles, Nature Reserves and Gourmet Walking on the Vermillion Coast. Detours to Medieval Monasteries are available. We need a few days notice to arrange these.
